Direct from Spain, Yllana turn flamenco affectionately on its head. The company has been making theatre for more than thirty-five years, and this award-winning show blends high-voltage flamenco with live music and comedy.
A fiercely traditional family, and a younger generation with other ideas
The show follows a family of flamenco artists out on tour. The elders guard the old rules; the younger ones start breaking them, with unexpected musical mash-ups, role reversals and a fair amount of chaos — while the footwork stays as fierce as ever. It is a tribute to the art form rather than a send-up of it, and no flamenco experience is required to enjoy it.
After a sell-out run in Madrid and a debut at the Edinburgh Fringe, the production arrives at the Peacock Theatre for thirteen performances only, co-commissioned by Sadler’s Wells.
