How I prepare and run a post-show talk
Every talk is shaped to the production and the venue, but the way I work is consistent.
- I get a full brief from you about the production, the panellists and what kind of conversation you want
- I prepare pre-set questions that will get the panel talking and give the audience a great opening
- I introduce the panellists warmly and set the tone for the talk
- I lead the conversation, drop in questions on the fly when the audience needs them, and open the floor for Q and A
- I keep time, particularly on a two-show day where the cast still has another performance and needs to rest and eat
- I close the session warmly, thanking the audience and the panel
The talks are usually 30 to 45 minutes at most, depending on the slot. I respect that limit. Cast and creatives need time, and audiences need a tight, well-paced conversation.
